Winger agrees deal with Crawley Town after successful trial

Crawley Town are pleased to announce the signing of Bobson Bawling on a one-year contract after a successful pre-season trial.

Bobson becomes the fourth trialist to join the club following in the footsteps of Lewis Young, Dean Leacock and Emmett O’Connor.

Originally with Championship club Watford from a very young age, Bobson was let go by the Hornets at the end of last season.

The 18-year-old played - and scored - in our recent pre-season victory over Oakwood and also impressed in the Reds’ games at home to Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The pacy midfielder has played against the Crawley youth team on two occasions in the past and was twice a contender for the Watford Academy Goal of the Season.

Last season Bobson had a spell on loan with Ryman League Wealdstone and gave up athletics to become a footballer having competed at county level.

Bobson will wear the squad number 20 this season.

Manager John Gregory said: "I've been really impressed with Bobson since he came here. He's a wonderful athlete, has got a terrific attitude and a lot of talent. He can play in a variety of positions and it's a credit to him that he has put behind the disappointment of being released by Watford to earn himself a contract here."

Bobson said: "I'm thrilled to be a Crawley Town player. This is a big chance for me and one I am going to take.

"I feel I have a lot to offer the Gaffer and my team-mates and I'm desperate to repay the faith both he and the club have shown in me and to also show the Crawley fans what I can offer."
