A full look ahead to Saturday's game against the Cumbrians

The Reds host Carlisle United on Saturday in their penultimate home game of the 2016/17 campaign.

Last time out Dermot Drummy's men fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Accrington Stanley, and had previously drawn 0-0 at home to Cheltenham Town on Good Friday.

Keith Curle's men still harbour realistic play-off ambitions with three games to go - they chalked up two 1-1 draws with Hartlepool United and Stevenage over the Easter period.

The Opposition:

The Cumbrians come into the contest at the Checkatrade Stadium on Saturday in eighth position in the table and one point outside of the play-off spots.

A remarkable start to the season saw the side go unbeaten in all competitions until a 2-0 away defeat in the league to Newport County at the start of November.

That sequence of games saw Curle's men notch up a 21 match unbeaten run and position themselves firmly in the promotion picture.

But since the turn of the year their form has dropped off meaning the side have fallen out of the top six. Just one win in their last 11 matches - a 2-0 away victory over Yeovil Town - has left them facing a fight to establish themselves amongst the top six between now and the season's end.

The History:

There have been seven meetings between the two clubs - with the Reds winning the first, their only victory over Carlisle United to date. Goals from Nicky Adams and Nathan Byrne secured a 2-0 win on the road in the first Football League meeting between the two sides. Adams is now a Carlisle player of course.

Read more on that success and look at some familiar faces in the opposition squad this weekend here.
