Tractor Boys visit in first round of Capital One Cup

The Capital One Cup draw has been made and the Reds will face Championship side Ipswich Town at home.

Mick McCarthy's men will visit Crawley in the week commencing 11th August.

We have never played Ipswich in a competitive fixture but did do battle with them in pre-season last summer.

This will be our fourth season in the competition and we've had some good runs in the past. Two years ago, we narrowly lost out to Premier League side - and eventual winners of the competition - Swansea City 3-2.

Before facing Swansea, Crawley had to get past Millwall, and we beat the Lions 4-1 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time thanks to goals from Hope Akpan and Nicky Adams.

We beat Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at home after coming from a goal behind in round two. Substitute Billy Clarke equalised after Benik Afobe put the Trotters 1-0 up then Nicky Ajose popped up in the final minute to secure another great victory at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

In Crawley’s first year in the competition we managed to beat AFC Wimbledon 3-2 in the preliminary round with goals from Hope Akpan – who was later sent off – Sergio Torres and Matt Tubbs. The first round paired us with Crystal Palace but we lost 2-0 to a strong Eagles side at Selhurst Park as Wilfred Zaha struck twice.

Crawley didn’t get far last year after losing 4-3 away to Cheltenham after the game had gone to extra time. Gary Alexander opened the scoring and Nicky Adams' two goals put us 3-1 up but Cheltenham battled back to earn a trip to West Ham in the next round.
